Kristy Trinier is a curator, art director, and culture consultant from amiskwacîwâskahikan/ Edmonton, Alberta. Her previous roles include Curator, SFU Galleries at Simon Fraser University is the Curator for SFU Galleries at Simon Fraser University; Executive Director of SAAG | Maansiksikaitsitapiitsinikssin contemporary art gallery; Curator at the Art Gallery of Alberta; Public Art Director at the Edmonton Arts Council, where she managed the City of Edmonton's Public Art Collection; and Director of Visual, Digital, and Media Arts, sessional Visual Arts Faculty, and Campaign Grant Writer and Researcher at the Banff Centre for the Arts. She has extensive experience as an arts consultant for cultural institutions and public art programs.
She is currently a Board Director of the Cohen Foundation and a producer of Publication Studio 66B, a print on demand artist book publishing project; and has volunteered for many non-profit art organizations. Trinier has edited and authored texts for art publications and art periodicals. As an artist, practicing in sound art and installation art, she has exhibited internationally. She has facilitated numerous public workshops and lectures at universities and professional associations gatherings for urban planners, architects, and conservators.
Kristy Trinier holds a Bachelor's degree in Visual Art and English from the University of Victoria, and a Master's degree in Public Art from the Dutch Art Institute (DAI) as a Huygens scholar in the Netherlands, with advisor Thomas Köner. She received a PhD in Philosophy, Art, and Critical Thought at European Graduate School (EGS) in Switzerland, with advisors Dr. Catherine Malabou and Dr. Terry Smith with research on formlessness in contemporary art.
